Margalit Studio
The art in photography is about freedom:
…freedom to change tack, to shift from one mode of thinking to another.
…freedom from the constraints the outside applies on the innermost.
…freedom from financial and other hang-ups.
It is just Me and It with the camera between us.
I studied photography at the Haifa Technion and in the years following mastered many of the techniques needed for advertising/commercial/journaling photography.
Through my professional life I learned to think and move fast to get my shot. My many years as MIMI’s chief photographer took care of that. The ongoing ‘Mimi’ section contains over 1000 selected images to date, and serves as a kind of archives.
A beacon of photographic ambition placed itself in front of my mind the day I discovered my language of fine photography and I pray it will always be there.
I’m intrigued with optical illusions and introduce them wherever I can. It is shown extensively in my portfolios ‘Rock’ and ‘Totemic’ – In some photos the 3D effect is obvious, and in others it is subtle.
A walk in the forest has me seeking out tree personalities, especially those thriving under impossible conditions, defying gravity, exposing their root system and clasping the rock jewel-like in a perfect give-take relation, in many cases I portrait the tree intimately.
Wherever I find myself, I love to create themes on the fly… an afternoon in a fishing village in Michigan (see ‘Weathered’) or sunset in my back yard (see ‘Liquid-light) and I love shooting just on the fly (see ‘On-the-fly).
